Welcome to the fishing permitting system for Cherokee, North Carolina.

Purchasing a permit is easy. It starts with a seven-digit sportsman number. If you don’t know what that is, it’s likely you don’t have one, so begin by registering. You’ll immediately receive your sportsman number.

With your sportsman number handy, you’re ready to purchase your sport fishing license, which can be easily printed from your home computer. We kindly request that you carry your permit at all times while fishing on the Qualla Boundary (otherwise known as the Cherokee Indian Reservation).

You will need to carry your permit with you at all times while fishing on the Eastern Band Reservation.

Please note there are no refunds with your permit purchase. If you have questions or comments, contact Paula Price at (828) 359-6110 X6113.

Please note: Starting in 2016 the catch and keep enterprise waters will have an opening day again. The last Saturday in March will be opening day. The season will be closed two weeks prior to this date. The catch and release fishing area will be open year around still.
